This article will give an order of operations of what to look for when the click in Ableton is not looping.

Before you start: If this is a new computer, start with step 4.
Part 1: Terms
- Tracks: Hosts clips and also manages the flow of signals in a Live set. Sometimes referred to as “channels”.
- Scrub Area: Located above the topmost track and below the bar count numbers.
- Locators: Organizational tools that are created to mark certain song sections.
- Loop Trigger: The MIDI note that tells Ableton when to go to the previous locator. Works in tandem with the IAC Driver.
Part 2: Checking the Loop Trigger
- Step 1: Set the loop trigger's output to “IAC Driver (Ch.1)”.
- Step 2: Set the loop trigger’s MIDI clip is set to the note “C3”.
- Step 3: Ensure the settings for the IAC Driver are correct in preferences.
Part 3: Checking the Click & Locators
- Step 1: Make sure the click track is in the looped section.
- Step 2: Make sure there is a locator at the beginning of the looped section.
Part 4: Setting Up the IAC Driver
- Step 1: Open the “Audio MIDI Setup” application.
- Step 2: Menu bar - > Window -> Show MIDI Studio.
- Step 3: Locate, open, and activate the IAC Driver.
- Step 4: Ableton preferences -> Link MIDI tab -> Set IAC Driver to the diagram.
Part 5: Restart Ableton
- Save the Ableton set. (CMD+S)
- Close and re-open the Ableton Set.
