Before you start:
- It is important to make sure Nord has power. The Nord is powered by an IEC Cable and turned on using the power button on the back of the Nord.
Part 1: Creating the Pad
Once the Nord has Power, The Synth section is where we will build the Pad. The synth section is located on the middle right side of the keyboard
Make sure the Synth section is on by pressing the on/off button located under the synth volume knob.
Once the Synth Section is on, on the OSC Section (Oscillator Section) click the Load sample button until you reach the SAMP(sample) menu. Then scroll to preset 112. This is a string pad.
Part 2: Controlling the Frequency Filter
To shape the pad to be softer and lower, Use the FREQ(Frequency) knob to lower the frequency of the pad.
Part 3: Shaping the Sound
Release Knob: Now to make the pads cutoff and Release work as a worship pad, set the release between 4 and 5. This makes it so the pad does not trail on forever but cuts off within a short time after releasing the chord or note.
Decay Knob: Now to make the pad hold the sound while holding the chord set the Decay to 10. This makes it so the pad stays on while holding it down. Anything under 10. This determines how slowly or quickly the pad will die off even while you are holding the chord down on the keys.
Attack Knob: Now to make the pads slowly rise when you hit a chord set the Attack between 3 and 4. This makes it so the pad does not hit abruptly when you first hit the chord. The attack determines how fast the sound hits once you play a chord.
Part 4: Frequently Asked Questions / Troubleshooting
- Question: Why is the Nord holding all the notes I play?
- Answer: There is a HOLD button directly beside the volume knob, make sure this is disabled.
